About Upkaar Welfare Trust
Founded in 2016 by Dr. Saarthak Bakshi, Upkaar Women Welfare Trust began as a welfare initiative focused on improving the lives of women from all walks of life. The organisation works especially with women in rural communities and underserved urban areas, providing education, awareness, and support systems that help them become more confident and self-reliant. Upkaar is dedicated to improving the hygiene, health, and socio-economic conditions of women so they can lead healthier, safer, and more empowered lives.
Since its inception, Upkaar has implemented programs focused on menstrual hygiene awareness, vocational training, nutrition support, and girl-child education. Through workshops, training sessions, and community outreach initiatives, the trust has directly reached 5,000+ women and adolescent girls. These initiatives aim to strengthen health awareness, encourage education, and provide practical skills that support financial independence and personal development.
The organisation has also supported awareness campaigns such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in collaboration with hospitals in Jaipur and has conducted grassroots programs including a three-day menstrual health and hygiene workshop in Kathmandu attended by 200+ women. What started as small community workshops has now expanded into a larger outreach effort delivering 50+ awareness sessions, vocational training programs, leadership workshops, and community health camps across different regions.
Upkaar focuses on addressing the economic, personal, and social challenges women face by offering practical solutions through education, healthcare awareness, and skill development. The organisation aims to reduce poverty and dependency by promoting hygiene, health, education, and financial independence. By building leadership and confidence among women, Upkaar continues to create an ecosystem where women are not only supported but empowered to grow independently and contribute positively to society.
