Save & Educate the Girls

Every girl deserves a safe environment where she can learn and grow. There are still many regions where a girl child is unwelcome. They often face gender-based discrimination from birth which continues through their life. Even today, there are millions of girls who don’t get access to adequate nutrition, proper education, and healthcare facilities.

At Upkaar, our “Save & Educate the Girls” program is specially designed for underprivileged communities. We offer the necessary resources and tools to build a better tomorrow for them. Our program focuses on educating them regarding their health, safety, and overall well-being.

Education is important for every girl because it’s the first step in making them empowered. Educating a girl means providing them with knowledge that can benefit them. It gives them the power to overcome poverty and build a better future. This also helps in contributing to the society in a positive way. When girls are educated: 

• They gain the skills that are needed to be independent.
• They are better prepared to make informed choices about their future and health.
• With proper education, any girl can become leaders in their communities. They can also become an inspiration for others.

We prioritize safety and help to make them learn and grow in a healthy environment. There are many girls worldwide who are at risk of exploitation, violence, and trafficking. Upkaar’s Save & Educate the Girls program mainly solves these issues:

• Creating Safe Spaces: We work with organizations and schools throughout the country. We ensure that every girl has a supportive and safe environment in which they can learn, study, and grow. 
• Raising Awareness on Rights: Upkaar aims to educate girls about their rights. It includes child marriage, protection from violence, and discrimination. Our workshops teach girls about their legal rights, self defense, and how they can seek help in case of abuse.
• Social Collaboration: We also collaborate with social workers and local law enforcement to protect girls. Their safety is our primary concern and we do everything to ensure their well-being.

Our program mainly includes the following components, including:

Skills Development & Education

• Due to social norms, financial constraints, and family obligations many girls can’t complete their education. We offer free education to those girls who don’t have proper access to schools.
• Our program includes academic subjects and life skills. They can also learn about vocational training and financial knowledge. All these can help in developing a better future ahead.
• Additionally, we offer resources and scholarships for higher education. It helps to ensure that no girl is left behind after completing their primary or secondary education.

Health & well-being Initiatives

• Upkaar focuses on improving girl’s overall health and hygiene. We distribute sanitary pads and educate them about menstrual health. We also offer mental health support and regular health check-ups.
• We address particular needs of girls who have certain disabilities. We also provide help to girls who are facing some challenges personally and mentally.

Awareness and Advocacy

• Our campaigns generally focus on changing societal attitudes towards girls safety and education. We work with families, communities, and governments. It helps to create an environment where every girl is respected, valued, and protected.
• Upkaar also runs awareness programs on multiple topics. It includes gender-based violence, early marriage, and child labour. It helps to highlight the importance of keeping every girl child safe.
