Upkaar Welfare Trust Journey
In 2016, Arushi G. Bakshi founded UPKAAR WELFARE TRUST. Seeing the condition of the women, she took this step so that all the women could get help. She wanted to create a platform where no woman should have to depend on anyone and should fight for their self-respect and take care of their family.
Our objective is to address and find necessary solutions to every issue faced by women. Upkaar offers support in areas such as health, hygiene, and economy. Our initiative is to keep girls safe and educated in every aspect of their lives. We offer skills education for women to help empower them.
Arushi’s deep commitment to women’s rights was born out of her own experiences. She understood the barriers women face in day to day lives. Seeing the struggles of women in underprivileged and rural areas, she felt a strong urge to take action. A small community initiative has now grown into a larger movement.
We have also initiated the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign in collaboration with hospitals in Jaipur. Additionally, we had organized a 3 day workshop on menstruation health and hygiene for women in Kathmandu, Nepal. From conducting small workshops to now reaching hundreds of women across the country, Upkaar is a living example of community support. We have launched leadership programs, vocational training initiatives, and community health camps.
Challenges Faced
Upkaar’s journey was not an easy one and faced many challenges. Overcoming challenges such as geographical isolation and limited funding were some of the challenges that were in our way. However, nothing has ever been a restriction in improving the lives of women. We started with a goal to create a better and safer place for women. Our journey has also been supported by powerful collaborations with like-minded organizations and governments that share our vision. By working together, we have been able to increase our efforts and make a positive impact.
Our Mission
Upkaar’s mission is simple but has a powerful impact on society. We aim to empower women to lead safer, healthier, and more independent lives. We are committed to developing an ecosystem where every woman has an easy access to resources, opportunities, and support.
Our mission focuses on three central pillars of empowerment:
- Health and Hygiene: We work actively to improve the hygiene and health standards for women in underprivileged areas. We provide education on maternal health, menstrual hygiene, and general well-being. We ensure that every woman can live healthier lives with respect.
- Economic Independence: Our vocational training programs are created to help women with the practical skills needed to secure sustainable employment. We offer entrepreneurship training, financial literacy workshops, and support for job placement. We aim to reduce poverty and dependence, allowing women to achieve true economic independence.
- Education and Personal Development: At Upkaar, we believe that education is important for every woman for better opportunities. We empower women and girls to pursue their ambitions, make informed decisions, and rise above the challenges they face.
At Upkaar, we develop a world where women are no longer limited by their circumstances but are free to create their own path. We are on a mission to build a future where women can grow independently, live confidently, and contribute to a more equal and just society.
